Apple Raisin Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

  • As needed Mazola® No-Stick Canola or Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
  • 6 slices white bread
  • 3 tablespoons butter OR margarine, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups half-&-half
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 medium apple, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream OR half-&-half
  • 1/4 cup Karo® Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 1-1/2-quart (or 8 x 8-inch) baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Spread 1 side of bread slices with margarine; cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
  3. Beat eggs slightly in a medium bowl. Stir in half-&-half, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt until sugar dissolves. Gently stir in bread, raisins and apple; pour into prepared dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
  4. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve with CARAMEL SAUCE (recipe follows).
  5. For CARAMEL SAUCE: Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, cream and corn syrup until smooth. Bring to boil, stirring frequently; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Serve warm with bread pudding.
