Spice Frosting

Fluffy frosting perfect for a spice or ginger cake.

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Karo® Dark Corn Syrup
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 dash of ground cloves


  1. In large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form.
  2. Combine corn syrup, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a small saucepan. Stirring constantly, cook over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat.
  3. Beating constantly, pour hot syrup into egg whites in a fine steady stream. Continue beating until mixture holds stiff peaks.
  4. Use immediately. Frosts 2-layer 8- or 9-inch cake.
