Sweet and Sassy Cheese Spread
Change the flavor with different combinations of fruits.

Cook Time: 2 to 3 minutes
Yield: 6 servings
1/2 cup corn syrup, dark OR light
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup dried fruit mix* (see step 4 below)
1/4 cup slivered almonds
1 teaspoon red crushed pepper
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
Assorted crackers OR crostini
Mix syrup, salt, fruit, almonds and crushed red pepper in a saucepan.
Heat to simmer, stirring to blend all ingredients. Remove from heat; stir in almond extract. Let cool to room temperature. Place cream cheese on serving plate.
Top with fruit mixture. Smear on crackers or crostini.
* Any combination of dried fruits can be used, such as raisins, dates, cherries, cranberries, currants, chopped apricots, etc.
