Maple Brown Sugar Frosting

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Karo® Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons half & half
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple flavor

Directions

  1. Combine corn syrup, brown sugar and 4 tablespoons half & half in a medium microwave safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH (100%) 30 to 45 seconds until mixture begins to boil. Stir to dissolve sugar. Cool slightly.
  2. Combine butter, powdered sugar and corn syrup mixture in a large mixer bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until very smooth. If frosting is too thick, add additional half & half, 1 tablespoon at a time to reach desired consistency.
  3. Use 1-1/4 cups frosting for each cooled cake layer.
