Maple Walnut Bars

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup Karo® Light OR Dark Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon maple flavour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat flour, butter, powdered sugar and salt together in a large bowl with mixer at low speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan. (Baking pan must be at least 1 inch deep; pan will be full.)
  3. Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until edges of crust are golden. Prepare filling while crust is baking.
  4. Beat eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, flour, maple extract and salt in a large bowl until well blended. Stir in walnuts. Pour over hot crust; spread evenly.
  5. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until filling is set. Cool on wire rack; cut into bars.
