Spice Cake with Maple Brown Sugar Frosting

  • 1 cup Karo® Dark Corn Syrup
  • 3/4 cup butter room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups buttermilk


  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Beat corn syrup, butter and sugar in large mixing bowl at medium speed. Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.
  • Stir together flour, soda, pumpkin pie spice and salt in small bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until combined. Stir in buttermilk and mix well.
  • Pour batter into two greased and floured 8 or 9-inch round baking pans.
  • Bake 35 to 45 minutes, depending on pan size. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
  • Frost with Maple Brown Sugar Frosting.
